Biography

Terence Lee is a scholar of Politics and Communication and is the inaugural Dean of Humanities and Social Sciences at Sheridan. He is best known for his writings on Southeast Asian Politics (especially Singapore), media, cultural and Internet governance and discourses surrounding the political thoughts of French philosopher Michel Foucault.

Terence holds a PhD in Politics from the University of Adelaide, MA in Media and Cultural Policy from Griffith University and a BA Honours (1st Class) in Communication Studies from Murdoch University. Before joining academia, he was a Policy Executive with the Singapore Broadcasting Authority and a Journalist with MediaCorp in Singapore. Terence spent 21 years as an academic at Murdoch University, chairing various undergraduate and postgraduate programs in Communication, Media and Journalism and was a long-time Research Fellow of its renowned Asia Research Centre.

From 2013-14, he served as President of the Australian and New Zealand Communication Association (ANZCA), the peak scholarly body of communication and cognate disciplines in our region, and he continues to serve on editorial boards of the following Q1-ranking journals: Communication Research and Practice, Media International Australia, Asian Journal of Communication and Continuum: Journal of Media and Cultural Studies.
